Product Description
Giants. We must face them. Yet, we need not face them alone. This profound look at the life of David digs deeply into the defeats he suffered, and the victories he won, as he faced the giants in his life. When David focused on God, giants tumbled. But when David focused on giants, he stumbled. Goliaths still roam in our world. Debt. Disaster. Dialysis. Divorce. Deceit. Disease. Depression. These super-sized challenges swagger and strut into our lives, pilfering our sleep, embezzling our peace, and robbing us of our joy. And while these giants try to dominate our lives, we know what to do! We've learned what David learned, and we do what David did. We become God-focused. We pick up five stones. We make five decisions. And we take a swing.

help for your hard times December 16, 2008 this books addresses the hard times we all go through and offers some suggestions on how to deal with them. it is easy to read and work with when helping others. You can allways trust this author.
Facing Your Giants December 7, 2008 Facing Your Giants is a great book for anyone that is struggling with depression or questioning their faith. This book shows how to tackle the most difficult situations that life presents to people. Max Lucado uses the story of David and Goliath as the theme for the whole book. However, there is much more to the story than that. This book really helps anyone who is facing something that they feel like they can't handle. Lucado explains how to get out of difficult situations through prayer and other ways. The message of the book is that if you believe in God and pray to him, your giants will fall without you having to do anything. Lucado uses scriptures from first and second Samuel to illustrate these points. Not only will reading this book help with understanding the Bible, but it will also help the reader with challenges faced every day. The story of David and Goliath in this book is symbolic. Lucado uses the Goliath to explain the giants that people face every day. Such as peer pressure, marriage problems, drug problems, ect. There are many books out there that deal with problem solving. They teach a person conflict resolution and how to deal with stress and anger. However, Facing Your Giants is different. It cuts out the middle man and shows the reader how to go straight to God to solve their problems. That is why I would advise this inspirational book to anyone. Although it seems like this book would only be good for people who are experiencing problems, it is a great read for anyone because of the inspirational message it holds. This is a great book and I had a hard time putting it down.
It was good! October 29, 2008 I enjoyed this book very much. It was not very deep in terms of its content, but it was good! It made me want to learn more about the main character (King David), and helped me view him from a perspective I never looked at him before.
The story of David October 25, 2008 This book is dedicated on the life of David. A glorious but flawed man. In the reading of the bible I never really "got" David. How could God support him so much when he failed in many ways by his sins and he was a soldier who ran from Saul and resided with the enemy when he lost his faith in God. David forgot to pray. David was successful in so many ways, yet he failed morally in others. For instance, Batheesheba. He ignores his family and focuses on the country. He has many wives and many children. All who seem to be placed on the backburner. In the end with the insurrection of his son and he is banished from his own city. David has days of depression and days of victory, but he is human. Each time that he turns away from God. His Goliath, his giant comes to rule and rips apart his life. David is just like us.
