Product Description What does the Bible really say about money? This completely revised and updated version of the classic best-seller provides a Christian perspective about money and material possessions based on the author's painstaking study of the Bible. Randy Alcorn uses the Scriptures to approach this often touchy subject head-on. Thought-provoking arguments challenge readers to rethink their attitudes and use their God-given resources in ways that will have an eternal impact. Alcorn deals straightforwardly with issues of materialism, stewardship, prosperity theology, debt, and more. An excellent choice for group study as well as individual financial guidance. Includes a study guide and appendix with additional resources.

A Must Read For All Christians December 1, 2008 This challenging and thought provoking book should be considered a must read for all Christians.
It deals with the topic of money and possessions. According to the author, Scripture says more about 'how we are to view and handle money and possessions than about any other single thing.' In fact, Mr. Alcorn says that Jesus devoted 'a full 15 percent of his recorded words on this one subject.' Another statistic that will amaze many is that there are twice as many verses in the Bible on 'money than to faith and prayer combined.' Obviously it is very important. Even more obvious to anyone who reads this book will be that most American Christians either do not realize the Biblical position on this subject or do not adhere to these teachings.
I suspect that virtually all readers will feel that there toes are stepped on a bit here as I do. Much of the book contains things that we probably do not want, but desperately need, to hear. The central premise of this text is found in Matthew 6:19-20: 'Do not store up for yourselves treasures on Earth where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven where moth and rust do not destroy and where thieves do not break in and steal.'
This is truly a life changing book. I would recommend it for every Christian. For a briefer introduction to this topic, I also heartily endorse another one by Randy Alcorn, The Treasure Principle: Unlocking the Secret of Joyful Giving (LifeChange Books). Buy this for yourself. Buy a few more for gifts. Share it with many.
Money, Possessions and Eternity October 1, 2008 Randy Alcorn has hit the nail on the head for Biblical giving. His main premise is that all money and possessions belong to God, so we ought to be willing to give what is His anyway back to Him or to whomever He chooses. Our money and possessions are not for our selfish pleasure but for the promotion of spiritual and eternal things. Quite a convicting read.
Good book, kind of repetitive June 6, 2008 I am glad I have had an opportunity to read most of this book. I have to admit, though, that I did not read all of it. It is just too repetitive. Randy has good points, but like many preachers, he tends to say them over and over and over again.
I read the first section of the book and then skipped to some interesting appendixes he has in the back. Maybe someday I will read the middle of the book.
Still, it is a book worth reading, and I learned much from what I did read.
Recommended.
Other than the Bible, the best book I've ever read! March 29, 2008 This is the best solidly Biblical treatment about money and possessions, that I've ever read, and I've read a lot!
Excellent book October 3, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is an excellent book on Biblical stewardship. It's a must read for anyone wanting to see what the Bible has to say about your possessions and how to view as well as handle them. Highly, highly recommended!
