Want to be healthy in mind, body, and soul? November 26, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This wonderful short book contains a breathtakingly simple way to grow in health. There are no laborious charts to fill out or programs too rigorous for any but the most rabid. Instead, this is an easy, clear outline about how to achieve health in mind, body and soul.
Some tips: consider having someone to participate with you in your lifestyle changes. The book offers advice in overcoming depression, stress, and ways to avoid a defeatist attitude.
Your spiritual health is also considered. Recent studies have disclosed how important religion is to health. Making time for reading the bible can be very healthy. And you can restore your mental health as well as your spiritual health by forgiving and loving others.
Diet and exercise are also important. There is a very revealing chapter on the "Ten Red Flags of Junk Science" (P 109) that should be read by everyone.
The information on diet and exercise is sensible and handy. You learn which beverages to drink, which to avoid, and the best ways to avoid cancer are all discussed. And we have all been told to put more fiber in our diet. But which foods have true whole grains?
There are easy-to-live-with-tips, such as substituting oatmeal cookies for pie for an after dinner treat, or trading your white bread for whole-wheat bread.
Recommended.
