Great book except for one thing... October 29, 2008 This is a much needed book for pastors and lay counsellors as well as professional counsellors. He goes into the HEART of therapy, rather than the PROCESS of therapy and puts repentance at the top of his list. Even when working with non-believers, as a counsellor, I still work from the Biblical perspective and it works just the same for them, using the prinicples in this book. I just call things different names (Good and Evil, Positive and Negative, etc, instead of God and Satan).
The only criticism I have is his focus on the devil, which lets people off the hook for their self responsibility. The focus would better have been placed on the grace of God because when people have the revelation of grace, they will WANT to please the Lord and walk in His Spirit.
Nevertheless, it is a great book that will speak to helpers' hearts and the hearts of those they are helping.

This is an excellent book. It is reader friendly and really is discriptive. I am learning so very much by reading this book. It is also a chosen book to read by our pastor. He is teaching a class and chose this book to teach from.
